What do they do outside of the course?

Outside the course I am a Driving Instructor and play Tenor Horn in Verwood Concert Brass. I’ve played in the local band since 1971.

How long they have been involved with the course?

My first course was held at Cranborne Middle School and I think it was in 1978.

What is their favourite thing about Wessex?

My favourite things about the course are playing different types of music, playing under different conductors and meeting like-minded people who go to have fun making music for a week.

What has been their favourite Wessex moment?

My favourite moment was in Salisbury City Hall, preparing for the concert, walking into the auditorium and seeing all the different band banners on the stands. It looked amazing and I was proud to be taking part. Each year though, I get another favourite moment, when all the pads are sorted and back in order in the library.

What are their hopes for the future of the course?

My hopes for the future of the course is that in this age of ‘computerism’, people will still want to learn and play instruments, make music, share in the fun and promote the course as a family-friendly, positive educational experience.

Describe the course in one word
