What do they do outside of the course?

Alli is a Family Support Adviser and Drama Teacher for SNAP Charity. He spends his time either directing, playing percussion for or acting in various musical theatre shows. He plays drums for Lady Grey and The Earls. Alli also really loves an escape room! How long they have been involved with the course?

His first course was in 1999 and hasn’t missed one since (only the two due to Covid). Alli was awarded the Courtney Bosanko Shield in 2003 and appointed as Percussion Tutor the following year. Alli joined our General Committee as a student rep, and in recent years has led the team responsible for promoting and marketing the course and running the WBSS social media. In 2022, Alli joined the Executive Committee. What is their favourite thing about Wessex?

The life-long friendships that are made; the camaraderie that goes with it and feeling that you’re part of one big family. What has been their favourite Wessex moment?

Playing one of the solo lines on Variations on Percussion. We’d been given the parts to practice for the following year as the music staff wanted to showcase our section. We’d all put the work in. And then the whole team decided to get up early and practice, each morning of the course, in order to nail the performance – which we did!!What are their hopes for the future of the course?

The incredible pride that Alli has in the Wessex Band Summer School, for what it has done for him and other musicians alike, knows no bounds. He would like nothing more but to see the course continue to grow in success and influence more and more musicians well into the future!Describe the course in one word

Magical!
