Ruth has been playing her oboe since the age of 7. She studied the oboe, singing and piano at the Royal Academy of Music under the guidance, among others, of Lady Barbirolli and Janet Craxton. As well as working as a freelance modern oboe player she has spent many years specialising in baroque oboe work and has been lucky enough to tour extensively with major baroque orchestras such as The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Orchestra of the Sixteen and The London Handel Orchestra. Ruth currently teaches at Shrewsbury School and Denstone College and is delighted to be tutoring her oboes colleagues on this special Windband course.
