The LEGEND that is Mike Warriner, a former player and winner of the Andrew Pitts Plate of the course has been the Baritone Tutor at Wessex since 2004. Currently based in Preston, Mike originally hails from nearby Bolton where he started playing at the age of 12, playing with many of the local bands including Eatons Farnworth where he helped them win the National Finals at fourth section level, Walkden, Tyldesley Bolton Borough and Trafford Band.
Having moved to Preston through work, he joined Freckleton Band, before moving to Fodens Band in 2002, enjoying great success there by helping the band winning seven North West area titles, two All England Masters titles, The Brass In Concert in 2009 , three British Open Championships and a National Finals victory . Indeed, Mike helped the band become ” double champions ” in 2012 . With Fodens very much in demand Mike is lucky that his better half is understanding of its commitments due to the fact that she is also in the band.
