Music has played a major part in Alli’s life from an early age. His energy and personality are perfectly suited to playing percussion.

Alli began playing percussion through the bands and orchestras of both Leicestershire Arts in Education and the Enderby Band Organisation. He continues to support the latter whenever possible.

Building up his playing experience, Alli also supported a number of other bands and ensembles, including: BT Brass Band, Ratby Band, Wigston Band, Syston Band and the Leicester Foresters. He has regularly played percussion for musical theatre shows, with many groups.

Alli is the drummer for the Essex-based band; Lady Grey and The Earls. They collaboratively devise all their original songs for both recordings and live performances. They also work closely with Early Door Productions, creating soundtracks and musical scores to their shows.

Other areas of the performing arts industry that Alli is involved with include:

  • Acting; playing principal parts in many plays and musicals across various theatres, including the Edinburgh “Fringe” Festival and previously for YAL’s School’s Theatre Company.
  • Directing; plays and musicals for both youth and adult theatre shows.
  • Musical Directing; musical theatre shows, concerts and revues.
  • Teaching/Leading; drama and music-based lessons and workshops.
  • Stage Managing, Set Design/Building and Prop Making.

Alli works for SNAP, a charity that supports families where a child has an additional need and/or disability. He works within all the sessions that they put on, and will endeavour to incorporate music wherever possible. As SNAP’s Drama Teacher, Alli devises and leads all the classes for their award-winning Drama Club and writes and directs their Christmas production. He also assists a freelance Music Therapist within the sessions she brings to SNAP.

As a past WBSS delegate, his first course being 1999, Alli was proud to be awarded the Courtney Bosanko Shield in 2004, and then appointed as Percussion Tutor the following year. He is as proud as punch to be part of this amazing course and helping to keep it going.
